Ocular Nutrition is Important to the Health of Our Eyes

Ocular nutrition is important. Taking good care of our eyes is important. By consistently eating healthy the body will create good eyesight for a lifetime.

Our eyes need a greater amount of oxygen then other parts of our bodies along with antioxidants to keep away free radicals. Free radicals, as I like to say “rust” the body, keeping us from staying young and healthy…and when our eyes are concerned that is one of the most important things we can do to keep young and healthy.

Juicing
Juicing is one of the very best ways to heal the eyes. Carrot juice and endive juice and parsley juice can work miracles in eliminating eye problems.

Juice:

  • 4-6 carrots
  • 1 large handful of endive
  • 1 small handful of parsley
  • (never take more than 2 ounces of parsley at a time)
  • Apples to taste
Alternate the juices taking 1 to 2 quarts a day morning and night.

    Wheatgrass
Wheatgrass juice has been said to be helpful for weak ocular muscles, supplying the eyes with a greater amount of oxygen, which is also in a liquid form more easily assimilated into the small nerves and tissues in and around the eyes.

    Vitamin E
Vitamin E is helpful for the eye it is a strong antioxidant. Foods that contain vitamin E are: dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, kale, wheat germ, most nuts, and especially soybeans.

    Vitamin A
Vitamin A helps with all kinds of eye disorders especially night blindness. Foods that contain vitamin A are carrots, dark green vegetables, yellow vegetables, and yellow fruits. Remember vitamin D which can be made on the skin, from 20 minutes in the sun will help aid the assimilation of vitamin A into the body.

    Beta Carotene
Beta carotene is an antioxidant in orange and yellow vegetables, yellow fruits, especiallly apricots and oranges They are very important to eye health. Sweet potatoes, spinach and leafy green vegetables are also high in beta carotene.

    Proteins
Glutamine and cystine are “anti-aging” proteins. They keep the ocular muscles strong and the tissues healthy. Food with these proteins are found in:
